The Machame Route is the second most popular Kilimanjaro hiking path, often referred to as the “Whiskey Route.” Known for its excellent summit success rates, this route employs a “climb high, sleep low” strategy to enhance acclimatization and increase your chances of reaching the summit.
Approaching the summit from the southwest, the Machame Route offers stunning views of the Shira Plateau, one of Kilimanjaro’s most fascinating and scenic areas. You’ll also experience the Lava Tower, a 300-foot (91m) ancient volcanic formation, and challenge yourself with a scramble up the Barranco Wall.
Descending via the Mweka Route, this trek combines adventure with breathtaking scenery, making it a memorable Kilimanjaro experience.
